'I've been super-impressed with Rick's approach. Not only are the facilities up at UKCCRA absolutely lovely, and ideal for reactive dogs in their tranquillity and space, but Rick's approach is ideal for those of us who are frazzled by dealing with our dogs' behaviour (in my case for several years) and who may have become a bit down in the dumps about our abilities as owners and handlers as a result. Rick's approach is ideal: quietly authoritative, and intensely diagnostic, he will observe your dog closely and then teach a series of exercises which gradually re-wire behaviour. My anxious male dog has notably calmed down after only four lessons, and is now able to re-direct to me when triggers like other dogs, joggers or bicycles are nearby. I've had unhelpful experiences with other trainers which had left me convinced my dog was beyond help, and that I was a "bad" handler, but Rick is methodically rebuilding both my dog's confidence and my own. As a teacher myself, I can see that the pedagogy is great but the scaffolding of handler confidence is also invaluable. Lessons are something both doggo and I look forward to. Highly recommended!'

'We reached out to UKCCRA, when our dog started showing increasing signs of irritability and aggression towards us at home. It was a worrying and upsetting situation, and we felt we needed professional guidance to better understand what was happening and how we could help our dog.
From our very first conversation, Rick was incredibly knowledgeable, understanding, and supportive. He took the time to listen to our concerns and offered valuable behavioural advice that immediately gave us a better understanding of what might be contributing to the changes we were seeing. Rather than focusing solely on the behaviour itself, Rick looked at the bigger picture and introduced us to his wider team, including a canine physiotherapist and nutritionist.
Although we are based in London, we have worked with the team both remotely and in person and the support has been seamless throughout. The canine physiotherapist, Alice, provided a thorough assessment and created a series of tailored at-home exercises for us to work through with our dog. Regular catch-up appointments have allowed us to monitor progress, make adjustments where needed, and ensure we were supporting our dog's physical wellbeing in the best possible way.
We also had an in-depth consultation with the canine nutritionist, Sam, who explored our dog's history, diet, and overall health in great detail. Following this, a microbiome test was carried out, and the results were reviewed during a comprehensive follow-up consultation. The nutritionist carefully explained the findings and developed a tailored diet plan specifically designed to improve our dog's gut health and overall wellbeing.
It has now been two months since we first started working with Rick and his team, and we have noticed lots of significant positive changes. Our dog is noticeably happier, calmer, and far less reactive than before. The improvements in both behaviour and overall wellbeing have been remarkable, and we truly believe the holistic approach taken by the team has played a huge role in this progress.
We are incredibly grateful to Rick, the physiotherapist, and the nutritionist for all the support, expertise, and guidance they have provided so far. Their collaborative approach has helped us better understand our dog and has made a real difference to our lives. We couldn't be more appreciative of everything the team has done for us so far!'
'We rehomed a one year old Spanish pointer from a shelter in Spain last year. Luna is our first rescue dog. All our previous dogs were pedigree puppies bought from reputable breeders. Having done some classes with Rick with our other dog Henry we knew that Rick would be our only choice to help us navigate the challenges involved in taking on a dog who had never been socialised and never lived in a house before.
After a careful and thorough assessment of our home situation and Luna and Henry's relationship and Luna's complete lack of resilience, Rick devised a training plan for Luna. Long story short, Rick taught us how to give Luna confidence and resilience and build skills around loose lead walking, meeting people and other dogs calmly without freaking out and many other skills as she has navigated her move from the shelter to the UK. Rick's skills in 'reading' Luna and explaining how she was feeling was a real eye opener. I thought after many years of dog-ownership that I was pretty good with dogs, but I never realised how much I didn't know. It is a privilege to work with and learn from Rick, and the proof is the happy and well-adjusted Luna. Thank you!'
